It Starts Here

My name is Joyce Catoe. I am 63 years old, born and raised in Texas, currently living in Rapid City, SD, with my 85 year old mother, Wanda Catoe, and three small dogs. We followed my brother here on a whim in 2004, bought a house the first month and stayed. We love the Black Hills area but are tired of our too large house with the too large mortgage payment (me) and the cold (both). So last week I suggested that we sell the house, buy an RV and hit the road for a couple of years. Mother couldn’t say yes fast enough.

So now we’ve got a lot to do. I’ve scoured the basement for garage sale items and have them packed up to take to the Senior Citizens Center. Upstairs is next. I’ve already listed some items on CraigList and sold my downstairs living room furniture to an aunt. Mother and I have had numerous conversations about what will be sold and what we will store.

The big work, however, will be the kitchen and dining room. I started a remodeling project last year, ran out of money and now need to finish it. With little or no money. Texture walls, paint walls and cabinets, install new cabinet doors, etc. Also as soon as the weather is warm enough and the ground thaws, I have fence to mend and build.

It is exciting to have something to look forward to and plan for!
